“I got a First Class grade and Jen is part of this achievement.
Thank you very much, Jen!” — Milton Marcelo*
I earned my PhD in 2009 from the University of Wales, and since then I have worked in academia as a professor, writing instructor, and published researcher at a number of institutions worldwide, including the University of Wales, Birkbeck College London, and East Stroudsburg University. As well as publishing books and articles in my own field (children’s literature), I have served as an editor and reviewer for a number of peer-reviewed publications. In the past year, I have helped more than 20 graduate students successfully complete their degrees--and I can help you, too.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t really like crowds. When you work with me, you work with ME – not a big group of coaches. You always know exactly who you’ll be seeing in a session, and who will be reviewing your work – because it will be me.
There is too much toxic pressure, competition, and burnout in academia already – I refuse to add to it. Instead, I will look out for your overall wellbeing as well as just your completion deadline – even when you don’t remember to. I'll remind you to take breaks, suggest self-care strategies, cheerlead for you at every stage, and listen when you need to have a rant or vent some frustration. Think of me as your "dissertation doula"!
My name is Dr. Jen Harrison, and you can think of me as your "dissertation doula"!
I hold a PhD in English - I've been through the process myself and faced the challenges you are facing.
I'm a real Professor of English, with many years of experience in higher education. I've supervised dissertations and know how to help you meet the standard.
My mission in education is to combat toxic competition and support a shift to empowerment, wellbeing, and support for students and researchers. I will always prioritize your health and happiness in academia.
I'm a fully trained academic editor and author of multiple books and articles in my own field (children’s literature); I have edited/reviewed for several peer-reviewed journals. In other words, I speak the lingo.
